Improving Hair Growth with 3 Simple Daily Habits

Once your comb or hair brush starts to gather hair strands, you could be in for the start of thinning hair. Shedding anywhere from 50 to 100 hair strands everyday is normal. A healthy scalp replenishes lost hair regularly. Unless you’ve been diagnosed with a health or medical condition that requires prescribed medication whose side effects include hair loss, it may be a good idea to start rethinking your eating and grooming habits to see that they don’t impair your hair growth process.

1. Get Rid of Unhealthy Habits

Any habit known to be ruinous to one’s health can also interfere with natural hair growth. That includes smoking and excessive coffee intake. Nicotine has been proven to harden blood vessels and restrict blood flow which is what the skin needs to look healthy and the scalp needs to take in nourishment to produce hair. Smoking has been shown to hasten hair loss and the onset of graying hair.

Caffeine in coffee may have proven its worth in stimulating our nerves and thinking in the morning in time for work. But excessive intake is proven to cause all sorts of hair and skin problems. It doesn’t really make sense to waste money on either, when you spend a fortune to maintain your hairstyle at its best. Try starting them when you have no more hair.

2. Rethink Your Hair Style and Grooming Habits

If your hair grooming habits create undue stress on your scalp, you can be sure that hair growth is stunted. Dreadlocks, bleaching, perming, curling, straightening and coloring put unnecessary stress on hair strands and the chemicals that support them can damage hair follicles and cause permanent hair loss. Your hair needs to grow as freely as it can. Sport a shorted haircut and try to live with your natural hair looks, be it straight or curly. There are great hairstyles for either that won’t stress and distress them.

The key is really to be gentle with your hair.  Even daily shampooing can be disastrous with most shampoos formulated with strong cleansing chemicals that can either dry your hair or build-up residues that put a strain on them to make them fall off. Get into a gentler hair grooming regimen and hair style. You don’t like stress in your life, so does your hair.

3. Get the Right Nutrition and a Good Massage

There is no surer way to a receding hairline and thinning hair than depriving the scalp with the right nutrients to stimulate hair growth and regrowth of shed hair strands. The bottom line is that your hair reflects the overall state of your body. A healthy set of hair always goes with a healthy body.

Lastly, a good massage on your scalp is always a good practice to observe regularly. Bear in mind that blood carries the nourishment needed by every part of your body. Just about every part of our skin gets a workout from the chores we do the house and in the office. The scalp is often neglected and we wonder why we get thinning hair. Perhaps a good scalp workout to get the blood circulation up there is all you need to a healthier fuller-bodied hair.
