Hair Loss Prevention Diet

A health diets consists of food groups rich in protein, vitamins and minerals the body needs to get around fit and able. That goes with maintaining a healthy set of hair on your scalp as well. A good diet is also your hair loss prevention diet as it delivers the nutrition your hair follicles need to keep on growing hair. And even if you are one of those genetically predisposed to premature baldness, it still pays to have a well rooted healthy diet.

Having one can help out any effort to further delay the onset of baldness. You could be using vasodilating medication to help improve blood circulation to your follicles, but if you don’t have the right diet, the increased blood flow may not contain the right nutrients your hair needs to stave off the effects of increased DHT levels. Here are some tips to getting the right diet hair follicles need to grow hair.

3 Types of Diet for Hair Loss Prevention

1. High Protein Foods

Hair is all protein, specifically a form called keratin. No protein, no hair; it’s that simple. Poultry, fish and eggs not to mention animal red meat are all great sources of protein. Fishes as well as legumes, lentils and kidney beans provide proteins to those who prefer them than meats for a varied but effective hair loss prevention diet.

2. Vitamin B

Protein sources also provide vitamin B complexes such as B6 and B12. B6 in tandem with the mineral Zinc is known to combat the overproduction of DHT form testosterone that weaken hair follicles and cause premature baldness in men. Vitamin B12 improves blood circulation to the hair roots to deliver the proper amount of nutrients. Unfortunately B12 is not found in vegetables. Vegetarians can find substitutes like using diet supplements rich in Vitamin B12.

3. Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Zinc

Fishes, especially tuna and salmon, are known to have Omega-3 Fatty Acids that promote healthy skin and scalp for a luscious hair growth. They can also be found in almonds, cashew nuts and walnuts as your next best source. Sea foods like oysters provide the mineral Zinc known to have anti-oxidant properties that maintain healthy hair. As mentioned above, with Vitamin B6, Zinc impairs the ability of 5-Alpha Reductase in converting testosterone to DHS and impairs hair growth.
