Hair Loss Vitamin B

Of all the vitamins of consequence to healthy set of hair, the B vitamins occupy a paramount position. Dermatologists and hair specialists are one in lamenting its deficiency as an underlying factor in hair loss. Vitamin B is a water soluble compound consisting of 8 variants that can be found mostly in foods rich in proteins. They are also found in carrots, nuts, soy beans, and eggs. For most people, the B vitamins are among the easiest to get as most foods in a typical diet have them. Since it is water-soluble, any excess vitamin B can easily be flushed out of the body as part of sweat and urine. For people taking vitamin B supplements, there is generally no problem with an overdose.

Vitamin B and Hair Loss

Of particular interest are the B vitamins that have direct and indirect impact to preventing hair loss and hair growth.

1. Vitamin B3 or Niacin promotes healthy blood circulation to the hair roots.

2. Vitamin B5 or pantothenol or pantothenic acid is known to prevent hair graying and hair loss with the promotion of new hair to replace shed ones. Most typical diets consisting of egg, grains and meats are already rich in B5.

3. Vitamin B6 or Pyridoxine when used in tandem with Zinc has been shown to control the androgen DHT formation which is responsible in weakening hair follicles.

4. Vitamin B7 or Biotin is needed for health skin and scalp. You often see this in shampoos and other hair care products that claim biotin as an active ingredient.

5. Vitamins B12 promote and sustain metabolic rates at the cellular level to enable the hair follicles to better absorb the nutrients from improved blood circulation.

These B vitamins taken together facilitate a holistic regimen to prevent hair loss. Vitamins B6 blocks the dreaded DHT while vitamins B3 and B12 encourages follicles to grow with the nutrients in increased blood flow to it. Of special consideration is the fact the B vitamin B12 is not found in vegetables. Vegetarians are advised to get diet supplements with this vitamin.
